I sent a message to wikia staff about how we can't edit user pages. Dopp told me this:
Thank you for contacting Wikia. Your wiki is using the newer, experimental user profile type. One of the features of this profile type is that only users can edit their own talk pages. Other features are the larger profile image, top wikis listed in the sidebar, and a few other aspects.
If you'd like, I can switch your site to the older user profile type. The user images will be smaller, and most of the sidebar items would be removed, but the pages would function like normal user pages and allow for regular editing (or admin-only if protected). Just let me know.
We are in the process of developing a new user profile type that will replace both of these layouts in a few months, so keep in mind that this would be a temporary solution.
Now the question is do we want to switch back to the older profile pages? Consider that they are developing a new profile page that will replace both of the older pages.
Update: We have decided on what we should do. We should wait for the new profile page. Thank you. (talk page) 10:21, May 26, 2011 (UTC)
