James Norrington is a prime and proper commodore for the british royal navy. He lacks respect for pirates and wishes to marry Elizabeth.
During At World's End Norrington joins the East India Trading Company and gets promoted to the rank of lieutenant. He still has a love of Elizabeth though and frees her from the Flying Dutchman after being captured by the East India Trading company. After this Norington would get turned into a fish by Davy Jones.
